2009 Schedule
Meetings take place the third Saturday of each month from 9:30am-Noon at Bethel Lutheran Church (920 Third Street, unless otherwise noted, in Hudson in the lower level. Guests are always welcome to attend!
January 17 - David Shattuck will present a program on how quilts are judged in competition. This meeting will take place at the Bethel Highlands campus.
February 21- 5 members will share five of their quilts they have made plus one project that is currently being worked on. They will describe their process in quilting and how they have changed.
March 21 – We will celebrate National Quilting Day with 4 demos by guild members. Carol Senn will share techniques to make some of the wonderful bags she showed us at the Feb show and tell. Kathy Miller and Mary Tague will show us some projects to use up some of our stash. Kathy will demo the Heart Strings quilt, and Mary will show us how to
make a pincushion or two. Sally Neckvatal will teach us a great method for basting a quilt sandwich. Sally declares that if you use this method you will not see any puckers on the back of your quilt! These demonstrations will be given to small groups of quilters so each of you will get an up close view.
March will also be our 'Second Wave' in the 'Underwater Fantasy' Challenge. If you did not bring your challenge entry to the September meeting, please bring it in March. There are still prizes to be had!
March 23 – 6:30-8:00 -- Dear Jane group. We will now be meeting in Room 212 in the same building as the Hudson Public Library (911 4th St.). You can use either the stairs or the elevator and the meeting room is straight ahead.
April 18 – Bus trip!!!! We’ll be leaving Bethel Lutheran Church Downtown’s parking lot at 9:00 am to travel to quilt shops and have lunch together. As always we’ll be visiting some great shops that are excited to have us check them out. They are planning sales, demos and door prizes. So collect your cash, checkbook and credit cards for a fun day with fellow quilters. We will arrive back in Hudson about 5:00 pm. We have kept the price at $25.00 for members and $30 for
non-members. Please get your payment to our Treasurer Mari Lucas by April 1 so we have an accurate count for the shops and the restaurant.
May 16 – Victoria Miller will join us for our May program. Many of Victoria's award winning quilts are made from patterns designed by Patricia Cox. Pat uses photos of Victoria's quilts to sell her patterns. Pat's pattern company is "One of a Kind Quilting Designs". Victoria will bring many quilts to share with us. She will share her techniques, and answer all
questions. She's hoping for a lively interchange with all of us, and welcomes all questions. May is our last meeting before we start our Summer Schedule.
Please note that meetings are the 2nd Tuesdays in June, July, and August.
The May “Dear Jane” meeting will not be held because of Memorial Day.

Coming Up
Who hasn't enjoyed receiving a beautifully penned note by a skilled calligrapher? It just seems to
make whatever the message all that more special. On November 21, Nancy Kaslaukus will join us to
excite and inspire with charming quilts and clever sayings done in her very own thread calligraphy
technique. After our morning meeting Nancy will give us a 3 hour class in this wonderful technique
that allows you to put your special thoughts and words of wisdom on your next quilt. She claims you
can do this even if the nibs from those long ago abandoned pens have long been dry.
Sign up now for the class. You’ll get the supply list then. This should be a wonderful way to cap off
2009 for Hudson Heritage Quilters. (By the way, Nancy is familiar with Hudson, having taught at the
old high school during her first year of teaching.)
